DIY Wood Bead Garland

DIY Wood Bead Garland

Pat bought me some new plants for the house!

He was so sweet and bought me everything I had on my wishlist. I wanted to keep my new Bird of Paradise plant in his office. One problem, we needed some curtain tie-backs for the window treatments, in order to maximize the light. The Bird of Paradise plant needs a lot of light to thrive. Pottery Barn has a beautiful wood bead garland that inspired me to create my own wood bead garland!

It’s surprisingly simple to make tie-backs and garlands. You only need a few things and these 3 easy steps.

Things You’ll Need:

Step One:

This step is easy! Cut the twine to your desired length. I made mine about 18 inches long. If you are making curtain tie-backs, I recommend measuring the length you need.

Step Two:

Knot the end of your twine 3-4 times so the bead cannot slip off. Wrap some tape around the other end so it acts like a pseudo-needle as you thread your beads on. Now all you have to do is place your beads until you have enough room to tie the final knots on the open end.

Step Three:

Create your tassel by cutting 20-30 sections of similar size. Take an extra string of twine and wrap it through the middle of the twine bundle. Now, all you have to do is tie it to the garland! If you want to have a traditional tassel, you can tie an extra piece of string about 1 in down to create that round top.

You can also tie the ends together to create a closed wood bead garland!

I love the way it turned out! They also look great as curtain tie-backs. This wood bead garland is perfect for farmhouse and boho home decor!

What other wood bead projects should I try?
