Thrift Store Finds – Part Three

Thrift Store Finds – Part Three

We’re back again with some excellent thrift store finds.

I swear, thrifting is like an art. If done correctly, you walk away with items in near perfect condition at a heavily discounted price. Check out part one for tips and tricks and part two for pretty things, here. I really want to stress the importance of shopping smart and waiting for truly wonderful thrift store finds. Sometimes, I know exactly what I am looking for, and other times I stumble upon something I know has value or can add style to my home. Patience is key – sometimes I leave stores without buying anything and that’s totally OK.

So let’s dive right in. Today’s list is short – only two pairs of items. One of which is already dressed up for wedding decor. 😉 What did you expect?

Matching Concrete Planters

I have to give my mother some credit this time. She totally nailed it with these concrete planters. I actually plan to use these as table decor for the wedding but eventually I want to have these in my house filled with fresh (or dried) florals. I’ve been inspired by that HBO show, Full Bloom, to create large bouquets within small planters.

For some size context, I put a 4-inch Cebu Blue Pothos pot inside the planter so you can gauge how much space is inside. If I let it stand upright, the planter would be about 2 inches shorter than the height of the black nursery pot. You could absolutely use this as a decorative plant container, but if you bought some floral foam, you could make one hell of an arrangement.

Vintage 6-Panel Windows

I have been looking for panel windows for a while. I found a pair for $8/ea a couple months ago but my dad stopped me from buying it as there was clear evidence of lead paint all over it. Thanks for looking out for us and the dogs, Dad! As time marched on, I found more but they were $40/ea. That’s not a deal. I kept being patient and finally, I found two of these six panel windows for $10/ea.

I bought these because eventually I want to build a greenhouse with all vintage windows. For now, I am using them for the wedding. One is a ceremony sign and the other is going to be a place for people to hang polaroids on string. It’s going to take me years before I have enough windows for the greenhouse but I’m glad I’m finally getting started on that project.
