Time for a Change

In July, I went to a salon to get a haircut. Once I was there, I decided to get highlights added to my hair. Caramel and red; my two favorite colors for highlights. Here is a selfie I took with my phone, immediately after leaving the salon. Can’t you see how happy I was?

I absolutely loved my hair! The cut, the colors; everything about it was amazing. It was perfect for the summer season. But now it is fall, my hair has grown back out, and the highlights have faded and grown out as well. It’s time for a change.

Despite all my past hair coloring decisions, I’ve never once dyed my entire head a solid color before. To be honest, I was scared. I was afraid that it would look terrible and be stuck with it for months. (After all, when I was a young pre-teen, I stupidly highlighted my own hair orange…and it came out more like spots on my head, rather than highlights. It was my own fault, I didn’t know what I was doing; but it looked horrible!)

This past Sunday, I decided to go for it. I wanted to dye my hair a color that represented fall or winter. My choices were between a dark cherry red and a dark plum color. I decided on the dark cherry red; the purple was too risky for me, and I knew I could rock red any day.

I am very pleased with my hair! The color appears to be a subtle change but when you step into the sunlight, you can see all the red.

Perhaps the color will spark creativity in me or some new inspiration? I guess, we will see.
