It’s okay to critique yourself from time to time…
But you have to recognize that we are our own worst critics. We are also in charge of our own happiness so if you are bringing yourself down, it’s also on you to build yourself back up. I self-reflect on this space and my own life regularly and it helps me develop strong game-plans to achieve my dreams. We all have to start somewhere, so without further ado, here are three ways to love yourself better:
Accept yourself, flaws and all.
No one is perfect. You can try, you will never achieve perfection, but that’s more than okay! Be honest with yourself. Life can be painful, unfair, and sometimes even cruel, but don’t let that get in the way of your happiness. Look out for those moments that bring a smile to your face, or those people that make you feel like you are on top of the world. Sometimes you have to purge yourself of all the things that are bringing you down. Recognize the triggers that make you stressed or sad and work to introduce more positivity into your life. Self-reflection and self-acceptance are the best way to improve upon yourself – and it’s always ok to talk to someone. If you are having a hard time, or need someone to talk to, you guys know you can always email me.
Find something to look forward to and work towards it.
Set your end goal and do everything you can to reach those goals. Use whatever it is that motivates you to propel you forward. Maybe you’ve found a new hobby, or maybe you just need a grand vacation. Your goal does not have to be career related. Maybe you want to be healthier, or change your lifestyle. Whatever it is, set your mind to it and go out there and fulfill your dreams.
Go out and spend time in nature.
Staring at a computer all day doesn’t make me feel connected to the world around me. If anything, it makes me feel more disconnected. That’s why it’s great to take social media breaks from time to time. I like to go out, take the dogs for a walk and breathe in fresh air. Fresh air and the sunshine have been known to improve your overall mood and has been used as a remedy for depression.
