Beach Vacation Essentials

Beach Vacation Essentials

Hello OBX, we meet again!

It’s been a while since I’ve been back to the Outer Banks…I still remember the legendary “horrible” Cordery family vacation that was bunches of fun. This time, I went out with Pat’s family! We’ve spent the past week playing games, watching the sunset, and taking all the kiddos to the beach to play and swim.

I don’t have any DIYs for you today but if you do find yourself at the beach any time soon, check out this seashell candle post! All you have to do is keep those eyes peeled for large shells to use as the votive. In the meantime, here are my vacation essentials. These simple staples can be mix and matched with other pieces giving you more room to pack, plus other beach-friendly items I never travel without.

Bug Bite Thing

This little tool is the Bug Bite Thing. I always take it with me on hikes or camping trips. It came in handy when everyone started to get bit by sand flies. We all had little pesky red spots all over, and this helped relieve the itch and heal faster. I’m definitely never leaving for vacation without this again. You can get yours here.

The past week was a blast. I went fishing with the boys and caught my first fish (catch-and-release). Pat and I took turns driving a jet ski for the first time, and I got stung by a jellyfish in the ocean. That last one wasn’t great but at least it stung me and not one of the kids. It didn’t deter me from going back to the ocean a few hours later.

Has anyone else been stung by a jellyfish before?
