DIY Baby Shower Backdrop Sign

DIY Baby Shower Backdrop Sign

Our baby shower is not too far away –

So I wanted to share a beautiful DIY that would be great for any theme! We chose a woodland theme because that’s the decor plan for our baby nursery. I recently purchased baby animal prints to hang over the crib, and they’re so cute. We may also use them for the baby shower as additional decor. Anyway, this DIY baby shower backdrop sign can be customized for any theme, so get creative!

I made a Pinterest board for my baby shower, just to keep ideas fresh and creative. When thinking about how to design the backdrop, I decided to take a few of my favorite images and created a quick moodboard. It’s a little chaotic to look at, but it’s gives you the overall vibe.

Things You’ll Need:

STEP ONE

Paint or stain the wood circle and the letters you plan to use. I chose to stain the wood circle and paint the letters in an ombré green pattern. Don’t forget to paint the edges of the letters so no raw wood edges show! I waited about 24 hours for everything to dry completely.

STEP TWO

Once you map your the placement of your letters, hot glue them to the wood circle. If you plan to utilize more than just the letters, factor the placement in before gluing. Don’t forget to consider any painted designs, dried/faux florals, pictures, etc.

STEP THREE

Decorate! This is a great step for adding dried or faux florals, ribbons, or a painted design. I wanted to mirror the ombré green lettering by creating depth with a mountainscape. I started by painting with the darkest shade, working my way up to the lightest shade. You can add in birds flying in the distance, too!

STEP FOUR

Hot glue string or ribbon to the back for hanging. I want to make this sign fully adjustable so I cut my ribbon extra long and made sure to thoroughly glue it, so it is completely secure.

I think it turned out so cute! It’ll look great adorning the white backdrop wall with greenery across the top. I’m thinking of layering it with some gold hoops that have greenery attached, too. But OMG – I feel like I am in full on panic mode now. The “nesting” is in high gear. For those of you who don’t know, nesting is the urge to clean and organize in preparation for your new baby. I find myself thinking about ways to baby-proof, or organize the house. It started with the laundry room, and now we are just full-on panicking about everything.

Consider styling this sign with: backdrop stand | white fabric backdrop | gold rings | faux florals | faux greenery | baby cube boxes | balloons

Update (May 16, 2022) – The backdrop didn’t exactly go as planned but if you want to see how our decorations turned out, check out my IG post, here.
