Must-Have Wedding Lawn Games

Wedding Lawn Games - Croquet

Stressing about how to entertain your wedding guests?

I have been to quite a few weddings and I learned a little of what not to do at each one. But I also learned what worked, and games are always a success. It was important to us that our friends and families have games and activities to bond over during cocktail hour. With the help of our wedding party and families, we had four wedding lawn games set up that proved to be a huge hit!

Croquet

What’s a garden wedding without the classic game of croquet? First of all, I found this croquet set for less than $30 at Target last summer, and knew I had to have it. Something about this game makes me think of English garden picnics and I wanted that vibe for our wedding. I think the game went over pretty well, but we did find out later that one of my nephews smacked himself pretty hard in the ankle with one of the mallets. So maybe not the best game to have at a wedding if children will be present! If you want to have this game at your wedding you can find an affordable one, here.

Giant Jenga

Aside from having to reset the game, Giant Jenga is great for outdoor gatherings. Whether you are just playing for shits-and-giggles or getting competitive, this game is a wedding lawn game must-have! We bring this game around to family picnics and hangouts with friends. It’s never a dud!

Cornhole

A southern classic. I don’t remember the last time I went to a wedding or bar that didn’t have cornhole available to play. One of my best friends weddings had a pretty competitive cornhole tournament going during all the dancing. It was so much fun to see them getting excited over their games. I personally love playing this game with our friends too. We are not super competitive by any means, but it’s always a ton of fun when we play.

Ring Toss

This one is great if you have kids coming to a wedding. Something about chucking rings at bottles keeps them easily entertained. You can DIY your own ring toss game, like I did, or if you prefer the real game, you can find one, here.

Aside from wedding lawn games, we also had a super cute ‘Baby Photo Board‘ that got loads of people talking, too. So if you’re crowd isn’t a game-loving crowd, consider taking your guests down memory lane.

If you’re wondering where I got the game rules signs, those were Target Dollar Spot finds! I just used a chalk marker to write out the rules. Remember: Don’t stress too much about entertaining your guests. Your guests will play your games and connect with family and friends they haven’t seen in ages.
