Embracing the Unfamiliar (and Orange)

Embracing the Unfamiliar (and Orange)

Orange is not my favorite color.

In fact, it’s not a color I would even consider adding to my wardrobe because I don’t particularly like it. I’m not a huge fan of orange but I have found myself becoming more and more drawn to burnt orange in the colder months of the year. Don’t get it twisted, I’m not running around adding a ton of burnt orange to my closet lol. Aside from this dress (which is mostly black) and this coat, I don’t own any other burnt orange items.

My point is, sometimes it nice to embrace the unfamiliar or explore uncharted territory. Personally, I grow weary of wearing the same things over and over. I know black is a regular staple in my wardrobe but it’s nice to change things up with interesting patterns, or stunning statement pieces. This easily translates into life decisions, as well. We settle for what makes us feel comfortable, or what is “safe” but are those things helping us make the most of our time? Are we taking chances or risks? Too often we find ourselves left with “what if” moments, and life’s simply too short to dwell on lost chances. Go out there and make the most of what time you have.

Find your calling, wear that ostentatious color, or tell that special person you are in love with them.
The time is now

Alright, so back to the clothes! As with every item of clothing I purchase, I always look at versatility and fit. This dress can be worn with different jackets, cardigans, and shoes. This means I can restyle this dress a few different ways. It is also very flattering on and helps to create the illusion that I am taller. As someone who is relatively short, this is a dream. If I can’t grow a few more inches, I’ll settle for illusions lol. What originally caught my eye regarding the dress was the beautiful pattern. It’s floral but perfect for Fall, and you know I am not afraid to rock some flowers in cooler weather.

I thrifted this suede coat about a year ago. I wish I could tell you where it’s from, but the tag is completely missing. Based on quality and the material, I’d say it could be something from Forever21 or maybe H&M.

What is something you have recently learned to embrace?
