Gift wrapping can reflect your personal Christmas style.
It can also make those thoughtful Christmas gifts stand out under the tree. In the past, I bought inexpensive tubed wrapping paper from Target, or Dollar Tree, and it worked out great. However, the patterns never really spoke to me and they definitely didn’t fit in with my Christmas vibe. Today, I’m going to show you a few gift wrapping options that will hopefully inspire you to get creative with covering those Christmas presents.
Back in 2020…
As a side story, Pat and I recently discovered that we had both gifted each other with personalized photo necklaces featuring an image from our engagement shoot. Thankfully, we both picked different photos, otherwise, it would have been a bit of a surprise. We had a good laugh when we found out and even my sister got in on the fun, as she was about to buy us both custom puzzles as well. However, the search for the perfect gift for Pat continues since he already knows what I got him for Christmas.
Minimalist Wrapping
This one might actually be my favorite gift wrapping style because it’s so simple and elegant. All you need to do is wrap your gift in black paper and add some twine. You can spruce it up with some botanical clippings or dried citrus.

Custom Gift Tags
You will need to use Canva or Photoshop if you want to make custom sized gift tags, but you can also make this in Microsoft Word if you play around with the sizing of the letters. Once you’ve made your label, print and cut it out. If you have a small hole puncher, poke holes to insert the twine. If you don’t have a hole puncher, you can use a skewer or needles to create a hole. Like mine? You can download a printable version for free, here.

Wax Seal Details
If you want to feel fancy get yourself a wax seal set. I bought a couple for myself because I basically want to wax seal everything and feel like a English duchess lol. Wax sealing Christmas gifts gives off an expensive but antique vibe which I absolutely love. All you need to do is melt a couple beads of the wax in a melting spoon, over a flame. Then pour it onto the surface you want sealed (don’t get it on the gift!) and stamp the seal on the wax. Hold it there for a few seconds as the wax cools, then remove. Let the wax dry a bit more for a minute or two and you have yourself a beautifully wrapped Christmas gift.

Star Confetti Tape
If you want to dress up simple wrapping paper, take some transparent tape and place it over some star confetti. It’s easy to do this on a clean surface. Spread the stars out so you don’t have too many overlapping each other. As you bring the tape down, lightly press the stars into the adhesive. Now you can apply the tape to a wrapped gift, adding a little eye-catching moment.

Doodle Art Gift Wrapping
If you like to draw, or if you’d like your kids to make gifts extra special this year, doodle on some plain gift wrapping! All you need is a paint marker and you’re set. Doodle wreaths, candy canes, botanicals, etc. For kids, get them some crayons and let them create some gorgeous Christmas art.

Satin Ribbon & Raw Edge Name Tag
I’m not very talented at tying fancy bows but I still can’t get enough of this gift wrapping. I really think it’s the name tag that sells the overall look. All you need to do is print the names of gift recipients on your cardstock, leaving enough space for tearing. Then, take the ruler and start tearing. You want to use the outermost part of the ruler as a guide for the tears. I suggest practicing first so you can perfect the technique. Once the name tag had the perfect tears, I taped it down behind the ribbon and voilà – perfect gift wrapping!

Unique Wrapping Paper
I signed up for a Minted membership earlier this year because it lowers the cost of wedding invitations and save-the-dates. When I signed up, they sent me a gift box filled with little goodies and a bunch of gift wrapping paper designed by independent artists on Minted. The gift papers were so beautiful and came with gift tags and ribbons, too. You can use my link, here, for $25 off your first order of $100 or more – any time, on anything! So save that link for any future orders you may want to place.
You may be able to find unique wrapping paper like this at local gift stores or local art shops! In Charlotte, I’d recommend checking out Paper Skyscraper for unique wrapping paper finds. If you have Amazon Prime, you may be able to find some that can be delivered in a couple of days – just in time for Christmas!
