Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder?

BlueAugustine_Absence

Oh man, have I really been silent for three months? I don’t really have a good reason for my absence this time other than telling you I needed it. šŸ˜…
I’ve been busy, but in other areas of my life, that really deserved my attention.

For starters, I got a new job.

Rather than working from home, I go into an office every day. That whole transition was a bit rough. I never realized how much of an introvert I was until I started working in an office. Or maybe working from home for three and a half years has just made me socially awkward. (Can we blame it on that?) Nevertheless, I like what I am doing so much more now. I feel immersed in the social and digital world. My whole job is centered around creativity, which is something I couldn’t really dive into at the last job.

New Camera, Who Dis?

I also upgraded my camera from the Nikon D5100 to a Nikon D750. It was about time to put the crop sensor camera down and shoot with a full frame camera. I want to grow as a photographer and this seemed like the right next step for me. I don’t have dreams of going pro, or running a photography business, but I love taking pictures; always have. I’ve been using my D750 at work and oh.my.god I am in love. I bought the camera with the 24-120mm f/4 lens and I have zero complaints.

Home Improvements

On another note, since I no longer work from home, my dedicated office space has been converted into Pat’s music room. I got bumped upstairs to the loft. I know that probably sounds miserable, but I have better lighting and a few more inches of space.

Minutes before I sat down to write this, I ordered a credenza from Target. I need a space to store my camera accessories and other important paperwork I am always too lazy to put away anywhere. I wish you guys could see the state of the floor right now…crap everywhere. There’s a random license plate on the ground (!!!), old laptop bags, and a mountain of loose papers that need sorting.

I also sold some of my antiques and used the money to buy a new breakfast table and more. My best purchase was some pretty sweet leather reclining couches for the family room. Basically, I have been trying to revamp my home and make it a place that I want to come home to every day after work. Before, my house just felt like a vessel filled with random things. There was no personality. Now, when I look at my home, I see potential and character, but there’s still more work to be done.

As promised, my absence on this blog is over. I fully intend on making 2019 the year of the grind. It’s going to be the year I kick major ass and carve a new path for myself – and hey, I already got a head start at the end of last year! I’ve never really been a ‘New Year Resolutions’ person. I just set goals and do what I can to meet them. You guys already know this, but goal setting is a huge motivator for me.

I can’t wait to grow this blog with you guys!
