DIY Hand Sanitizer + Labels

DIY Hand Sanitizer + Labels

If you haven’t heard by now, the FDA recalled some hand sanitizers for testing positive for methanol contamination.

Yikes! šŸ˜Ø I’ve also noticed that stores are charging an arm and a leg for hand sanitizers. With that said, I decided to make my own using the ingredients listed from Healthline. I made a large 16 oz. bottle for the entryway of my house and small 2 oz. spray bottles for my family and friends. The spray bottles are great for on-the-go sanitation. I leave one in my purse and Pat leaves one in his car!

Things You’ll Need:

I’m not going to link the alcohol because it’s still hard to find this in stores, but online, it costs a ridiculous amount of money. Try to go to your local stores on shipment/restocking days.

Recipe

ā€“ 1 1/2 cups of 70% Isopropyl Alcohol

ā€“ 1/4 cup Witch Hazel ā€“ 14% alcohol content

ā€“ 1 TBS Aloe Vera Gel

ā€“ 25 drops of essential oil. This can be any combination of your choosing. I added 13 drops of eucalyptus oil and 11 of lavender oil.

Bottle Labels

You can download my 16 oz. hand sanitizer label here, and the 2 oz. spray bottle label here.

Please note: The spray bottle label will appear blurry any time it’s blown up larger than the image size because the text is so small. Because of this, make sure you print the labels true to size.

Printing

I printed my labels on sticker paper using my home printer. Before cutting and peeling the stickers, I applied the laminating sheets. This stops the paper labels from ruining as it bumps around in your purse. Now you can cut your labels and stick them on the bottles!

Another alternative is to print on regular printer paper and cut the labels to size. Then cut the laminate into strips so that you can use the laminate as adhesive for the label.

Hand sanitizer is not a substitute for washing your hands, but it is effective when you need a quick sanitation. I hope you are all staying safe out there! Did you hear the joke about the germ? I’m not going to tell you…I don’t want to spread it around.

Are you going to make your own DIY Hand Sanitizer?
