Life Lately 2020

Life Lately 2020

Hey guys! I can’t believe I haven’t given you a life update in over a year.

Work has been crazy so blogging has really taken a back seat for me – it’s not necessarily what I wanted, but it’s what happened. I’m really trying to be better, I swear!

2020 has already gotten off on a weird note – but we’re navigating it and we are staying positive! I’ve been working on being more social, not working all the time, standing up for myself, and being okay with my own imperfections.

Plant & Home Update

As you guys probably saw, I have a newfound obsession with plants and home decor. I have spent so much time redecorating and reorganizing my home to make space for my plant babies.

I actually rescued some plants from Lowe’s so they’ve needed a bit of extra love and attention to get them healthy again.

Dog Update

SAM

On a sad note, I lost my big dog, Sam, in September of last year. He was 14 years old and we suspect he had cancer. We drove 4 hours to take him to the beach one Saturday because we knew the end was near. We didn’t know that we would only have 2 days left with him. He was not doing well anymore; he wasn’t able to walk on his own for long, he wouldn’t eat, and he couldn’t get up.  That Sunday, we made the decision to have a vet come to our home on a Monday night to put him to rest.

Monday came and my sister and I took him out to do all his favorite activities and eat his favorite things (i.e. McDonald’s cheeseburgers). We were counting down the remaining hours and crying because we couldn’t picture life without him. He had an awesome last day– you can tell from the photo below. I miss him every day.

Decade Rewind | 2019

CLEO

Four, almost five months later, I saw a coworker with puppies he had put up for adoption. One of them had almost the exact same markings as Sam so I snatched her up and made her mine. We named her Cleo after Cleopatra because she’s the Queen of this house. Toby is still the King though! Also, Cleo actually just experienced her first snow in Charlotte the other day!

PS – I decided Toby and Cleo needed their own joint Instagram so if you want more puppy pics follow here.

Watercolor Painting

I started watercolor painting recently too. I’m not a professional by any means but it’s relaxing and I love it. I’ve been mainly focusing on nature-scapes but I’ve painted some abstract pieces and a couple of people. I was also proud enough to hang some of my own art in my house.

I might start gifting them to friends for special occasions or something…not quite sure yet! I was even thinking of scanning them into Photoshop and making some digital edits to create cards or notecards. We shall see!

What have you guys been up to lately?
Anything fun I should check out in Charlotte?
