Stonewear Vases: DIY Thrift Flip

I’ve been really getting into DIYs lately.

While coronavirus is keeping me indoors, I’ve been getting crafty. I’ve been in need of a home makeover and enjoy exercising my creativity, so I decided to introduce DIYs to my blog. Stonewear vases have been growing in popularity recently so I wanted to try making a few for myself. Obviously, nothing beats actual stonewear but I don’t have the capability or resources to pull that off. Alternatively, I ran to Goodwill looking for vases to spray paint.

I walked out of Goodwill with two uniquely shaped vases that cost me less than $3. What a steal! Next, I needed to pick up the Rustoleum Multicolor Textured Spray Paint so I popped over to Home Depot and picked up two cans. Yep, you might need a back up can because this stuff takes many coats before it opaquely covers the vase. Rustoluem does make stone paint, but no stores around me carry it so I opted for this one because the texture was spot on.

    • Pink Vase – $0.99
    • Green/Gold Vase – $1.99
    • Spray Paint x2 – $5.98

In order to complete the stonewear vase look, I needed to add some dried floral arrangements so I snagged this one from Home Goods. I got it for a pretty solid price too, just $12.99.

I wanted the taller vase to hold the dried eucalyptus and the shorter to hold the dried lavender. Don’t worry, I grabbed a clear glass vase and stuck the rest of the arrangement in it ā€“ don’t want to waste these beauts!

…and the final result is gorgeous! These old vases are completely flipped and now it looks like something you’d be taking off the shelves at West Elm. I can’t get enough of them. You can hardly tell it’s spray paint too ā€“ looks like legit stonewear!

So why DIYs?

I’ve been on a bit of a creativity kick and as a result, I have a lot of new DIY posts coming your way. I hope you guys will enjoy them as much as I did working on each one. I dunno, I feel like it’s time to take this space in a different direction. I’m not going to throw fashion and beauty out the window but I want to start a new chapter and show you guys what I’ve been enjoying lately.
