If you haven’t jumped on the houseplants train, now’s your chance.
There so many varieties of houseplants, and you can choose one that best fits with your environment. Low light in your space? Pothos, Sago Palms, and Cast Iron plants are among the many that can tolerate low light situations. Low humidity in your space? Snake Plants, Aloe Vera, and Ponytail Palms are among the many great choices! Need something hard to kill? Consider a Hoya, Monstera Deliciosa, or a ZZ plant.
But what benefits do these houseplants have to offer? Let’s see…
Add A Touch of Luxury
You won’t see interior designers decorate a space without some type of plant. Whether you are decorating with common houseplants, or rare ones, plants can add a feel of luxury to any space. Depending on the plant, you can add a sense of scale & height, texture with interesting leaves, or take a neutral space and add a hint of green. Plants instantly freshen up a space and dress up interiors.
Mood Booster
Plants just make us happier – can’t say it better than that. You know that feeling when you spend the day in nature? Or when you take walks at the park, with your dogs and looking at them struggling cutely to complete the food that they kept on its Lick mat dog…….Getting in touch with nature improves our mood and overall well being. Some people turn their sunrooms into ‘indoor jungles’ and spend time there each day to lift their spirits! I told Pat our next house definitely needs a sunroom.
Increase Creativity + Reduce Stress
Studies have shown that time spent outside can reduce our mental fatigue and increase our relaxation, among other great things. When I am surrounded by the beauty of nature, I find myself reinspired and filled with creativity. I find myself photographing nature, landscapes, and sunsets all the time. It’s also very relaxing taking care of plants. Cleaning those leaves, watering them when they’re thirsty, rotating them for sun exposure… all these small things just give you a stress break.
Eliminate Air Pollutants
Believe it or not, plants can clean indoor air by absorbing surrounding toxins, increase humidity, and produce oxygen. How do I know? NASA scientists said so! Certain plants in particular have been found to be more beneficial to others – like the Peace Lily.
