I’ve said it before: Thrifting is an art.
Not sure where to start? I created my own tip + tricks for thrift store shopping. It doesn’t matter what you are looking for, there’s always something for everyone if you keep your eyes open. Thrifting is also environmentally friendly. By shopping secondhand, you are giving second life to an item that may have ended up in a landfill or food for moths…eek! I have found items ranging from silverware to a designer wedding dress in my perfect size! You could also have great luck if you take the time to thrift. With that said, I’ve decided to share a few of my own favorite thrift shops in Charlotte – in no particular order.
Value Village
Value Village is a widely popular affordable thrift store that carries everything from clothing, kitchenwares, and furniture. They also act as a donation center for anyone looking to do a little spring cleaning. There are many of these stores all over the city – roughly 6 total!
Hidden Treasures
Hidden Treasures is a thrift & antique consignment shop that truly lives it up its name. The house a ton of discounted furniture modern and retro designs. They even have a low cost delivery service for those who can’t fit large items into their cars!
The Rat’s Nest
This cool thrift shop is located in the art district of NoDa. They mainly carry shoes and clothes – old band tees and other sorts of retro clothes. When we needed 90’s clothes for a themed birthday party, this is one of the stores we stopped in. The store is fairly small, but it’s packed will a bunch of goodies!
Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont
Goodwill is probably the store I frequent the most. There are almost 25 stores in the Charlotte area for you to check out. Like Value Village, they carry a little of everything. I found a beautiful Maggie Sottero wedding dress at one of their shopping events, and I’ve also checked out ‘The Grid,’ a thrift store tech shop in the University area.
Bargain Hunters Thrift Store
I’m not sure how, but this store somehow manages to get some lightly used brand name furniture on occasion – if you are in need of mirrors, beds, or dressers, this is a great place to check out. They also have a robust housewares section, but more impressively, they have a vast clothing section. With the expansive clothing collection, it’s no wonder this store is huge.
