My favorite season is here…it’s not just about the holidays and brisk air — It’s about the style expression. Let’s face it, clothes are just way more chic in autumn.
Typically, we get about a week or two of autumn weather before we dive right into winter and this past Monday morning, I woke up around 5:30 AM and it was 33-degrees outside and there was frost all over my car. This was the sign I needed to know autumn has arrived in Charlotte.
As I continue to grow my wardrobe, I look for classic, timeless pieces that I know will work with numerous looks without growing old. One of my favorite wardrobe essentials is: the blazer. You could probably argue that the blazer is perfect for any season, and I wouldn’t disagree, but there’s just something about rocking blazers in autumn. It’s not too hot, and it’s not too cold – it’s blazer season.
One of the many reasons why I love blazers is the fluidity between wearable occasions.
Traditionally, you would wear a blazer with matching slacks to an office setting, but why not get a bit more creative. Pair it with jeans, sneakers, your favorite silk dress, a skirt…possibilities are endless. All the more reason why this is a closet essential!
You’ve seen me in a few different color and pattern blazers over the years but I’ve been on a mission to find the perfect black blazer. I’ve been a sucker for double-breasted coats and blazers since I was young and I can’t seem to part with this style, so naturally, when I saw this one, I had to have it.
I personally like rolling up the sleeves and wearing it with a simple tee — in this case, I chose a black top because I wanted to draw more attention to the silhouette and my accessories. I dressed it down with a pair of Adidas sneaks and marched up and down the streets of Southend with my camera, “Instagram husband”, and shot this simple fall essential look.
