My Beautiful Summer Dress

My Beautiful Summer Dress

When I was younger, I hated wearing dresses. I was very much a Tom Boy.

I wouldn’t say that has changed all that much. Even until this day, my go-to items of clothing are still skinny jeans and sneakers, but when I stumble upon the perfect dress expect me to wear the hell out of it. You guys have probably seen me wear this one a thousand times. Honestly, nothing beats a beautiful summer dress.

I purchased the dress in this post several years ago at Target. I fell in love with the colorful pattern and the fit around the waist, although, I wasn’t a huge fan of the style of dress. On many occasions, I tried to wear it, but ultimately, I ended up opting for something more flattering on my body – something more form fitting. Because of its boxy shape, this dress just adorned a hanger in my closet for many years.

A few weekends back, Pat took me to the Great Smoky Mountains for the weekend. In an attempt to provide more variety to my outfit posts, I reluctantly packed this dress. When I was editing these photos, I was overjoyed to see that it photographed so well. After seeing how the images turned out, I think it’s safe to say that this may be one of my new favorite summer dresses. (Funny how fast we can change our minds, yeah?) Every girl needs to own at least one beautiful summer dress.

The dress contrasted really nicely with my pale AF skin, which is something I would have hated back in the day. (I’m learning to embrace my pale skin, and yes, I did wear sunscreen!) It also brought out the rich tones of my dark brown hair and my brown eyes. Hanging onto this dress for years paid off.

On Memorial Day, Pat and I are going to be celebrating our eight-year anniversary. Eight years! After all this time, he still makes me smile and laugh. He even took up photography just so that I could keep blogging. He knows how much this space means to me and he always pushes me to keep going. So this post is for you, babe. Thank you for being by my side after all these years.

Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone!
