A Day in the Life of a Social Media Specialist + Blogger

My daily routine is constantly changing but I try to nail down a solid routine so I can maximize my day and my returns.

Today, I wanted to share with you, my typical Summer work day: A Day In The Life, if you will. I know sometimes it can be hard to balance a million things at once, so I figured it might be insightful to see how I do it! Obviously, I don’t always stick to this exact schedule – I’m pretty flexible. And it is Summer after all, so Friday nights are usually reserved for fire pits or some weekend adventure.

Wake up – 7 a.m.

I try to wake up early to get the ball rolling early – Sometimes I’m bad and I don’t get up until 7:45 a.m.  I feed the dogs, let them out, play with them for a bit and then I move on to the next thing.

Shower and change – 8 a.m.

Even though I work from home, I occasionally have video calls, so it’s not always a work-in-your-pajamas situation. But you have to dress for success, right? Thankfully with my favorite shampoo + conditioner, I don’t have to wash my hair every single day, so my hair has been getting healthier.

Make a good breakfast – 8:20ish Tim Tams

I’ve been trying to eat a bit healthier: no bacon, no ham, no sausage, no egg yolk. I usually make myself a cup of breakfast tea with a bit of cream and sugar, and some avocado toast! But I’ve been really bad lately and in the last few, iced coffee and Tim Tams have been my jam.

Start work – 8:30 a.m.

As a Senior Social Media Marketing Specialist, my day-to-day tasks can be pretty hectic, but I do what I love. What more can I say? I get to strategize with my clients and post engaging content on social media.

Lunch break – 12:00 pm

During this time, I try to outline my posts, take some quick photos for Instagram and eat! I don’t play when it comes to food. I may be small, but food is life.

Working Girl – 1 to 5 p.m.

Back to work! I like to finish the last four hours of my day strong. Especially after a good meal, my brain is ready to hit the ground running.

Start prepping dinner/Grocery shopping – 6:00 p.m.

If I am not making chicken parm, chicken alfredo, avocado chicken salad, nachos, or tacos, then I am usually running to the store for more ingredients to make those meals. I could seriously use some more recipes, you guys. If I am not in the mood to cook, I’ll usually pick something up from the meal section at the grocery store. Publix has some fantastic fried chicken (so much for eating healthy right?)

Eat dinner and chill – 7:30 p.m. ish

My favorite part of the day is dinner. Seriously. It’s not just the food, but the company. My boyfriend and I usually watch a show or a movie while we eat. It’s nice to be able to kick back and just relax for an hour or so.

Walk the dogs – 8:30 p.m.

After feeding the dogs their dinner, we take them for a walk. It’s always nice to be able to stretch my legs, get some fresh air and watch the sunset. Sam and Toby are also usually really excited about this part of the day too.

Write for blog– 9:00 p.m.

For the next four hours, I dedicate my energy to finalizing photo edits, blog posts and shooting some more photos. This is where most of the magic happens. I don’t get much of a chance to shoot in bulk on weekends so I rely heavily on these four hours of the day to get things accomplished.

Bed – 11:45 p.m.

Time for bed! My second favorite part of the day. To start it off, I get to do my evening skincare routine which feels less like a chore these days. There is nothing like washing your face and slathering on a sleep mask just before bed. It’s so refreshing after a long day. I value sleep above most things – I haven’t pulled an all-nighter since the ninth grade – Sleep is rejuvenating and keeps me ready to do this again, tomorrow.

So there it is! A day in the life of me!

What’s a typical Summer day like for you?
